STEPPED EVENT ANALYSIS | FAULT CLEARING SUMMARY COMMAND

The Fault Clearing Summary command in the Main Window lets user run stepped-event analysis with an initiating fault on desired transmission lines and/or buses and report all stages of fault clearing operations by protective devices. Before running this command you must first make sure that your OneLiner model matches actual equipment condition and relay settings in the actual network.

TO GET A LINE FAULT CLEARING SUMMARY REPORT:

1.    Select the Faults | Stepped-event Analysis | Line Fault Clearing Summary command

The dialog will appear.

2.    Study Scope:

To run bus fault clearing summary mark check box: All buses.

To run line fault clearing summary mark check box: All lines. You can also specify a minimum p.u. impedance value to exclude very short lines from the study.

Specify additional filters by area, zone, kV, bus number and tag.

3.    Initiating Fault at Time = 0.0 sec

Specify line fault %: Location of fault measured form first bus of each line. You can specify multiple locations by entering discrete values or range and step size.

Specify fault phase connection

Specify fault impedance in ohm

4.    Study Extent

Max tiers: Only protective devices within this tiers limit are considered in stepped-event simulation

Max time: Device operation after this time duration will not be considered in the simulation.

Max steps: Stepped-event simulation will stop when this number of steps is reached.

Note: The last two check boxes under “Simulation Options” are disabled because these options have not been implemented.

5.    Report format description.

For each line and/or bus in the study scope, following results are reported:

BUS1: Name of faulted bus or first bus of faulted line

BUS2: Second bus of faulted line. This field is blank in bus fault.

CKTID: Line circuit id. This field is blank in bus fault.

BRNAME: Line name. This field is blank in bus fault.

PCNT: Fault location on line in percent measure from bus 1 of the line. This field is blank in bus fault.

FAULT: Fault phase connection. Can be 1LG, 2LG, 1LG, LL followed by phase letters A, B and C

STEP NO: Sequential number of fault clearing steps that follow the initiating fault.

TIME: Step time stamp in seconds, measured from the initiation of the fault.

FLT CUR.: Fault current in amps

FLAG: Warning flags

OPEN BKRS: List of breakers that open in each fault clearing stage.
